Auto-reversing deck with a unique auto-reversing mechanism.
A newly developed unidirectional auto-reverse mechanism is adopted.
In this mechanism, the cassette half itself is quickly reversed to perform a reverse operation.
The reverse action slides out the cassette holder, makes a half turn of the half and sets it again.
It is operated by a microprocessor-controlled motor drive, which ensures smooth and speedy
operation.
Due to this unique structure, the tape running state does not change even when reversed,
and the driving conditions are exactly the same on the A and B sides, and in principle,
re-recording auto reverse without azimuth misalignment is realized.
It is equipped with an autorec standby mechanism.
Press once to start recording at the head of the A side within 0.5 seconds, and press twice to
start recording at the head of the B side from all operating modes except FF/Rew.
It is equipped with a double speed master fader control.
You can control the fade-in and fade-out by pressing Up or Down once for 4 seconds, and
by pressing and holding again for 2 seconds.
It uses a direct operation mechanism.
Simply press the operation button such as Play, FF, Rew, etc., and it will automatically load
the cassette half and enter the indicated operation.
The cassette holder can be opened and closed manually even when the power is turned off,
eliminating the inconvenience of the eject/loading mechanism of conventional motor drives.
The tape transport section uses a silent tape transport that incorporates Nakamichi's unique
know-how cultivated in the 1000ZX and DRAGON, and emphasizes the reduction of flutter,
which modulates the music signal and muddies the sound, and improves the quality of the hearing.
In addition, tape control is performed by a microprocessor-controlled motor drive system.
The RP-2D re-recording head is used for the re-recording head.
The head uses a sender laminated core with a high saturation magnetic flux density of
10,000 gauss and a gap width of 1.2 microns. High characteristics are achieved by computer-
controlled ultra-high-precision machining.
The erasing head adopts an E-2D erasing head.
This head is a double-gap type with a ferrite core.
By focusing on circuits and parts, we pursue low distortion and low noise in recording and
playback amplifiers.
The recording equalizer circuit and the playback equalizer circuit use a double NF circuit,
and the playback equalizer circuit has a discrete configuration to improve the quality.
In addition, more than 30 items are adjusted one by one in the manufacturing process.
Each of them is equipped with a Dolby B-C type noise reduction system.

It is also equipped with a 4-digit LED tape counter.
