Commentary
A floor-type speaker system that uses a 4-way, thin design.
The 30cm cone type Woofer is carried in the low-pass.
The mixed structure of graphite fiber and polypropylene by the injection mold manufacturing
method is adopted as a cone of this unit. The characteristics of these two types of materials are
rigidity and moderate internal loss, and by complementing each other, excellent strength and
high self-damping are realized.
The casting frame is adopted as a frame, and the unnecessary vibration is eliminated.
The polygraph K which is a 12.7cm dome type mid-low unit is carried in the mid-low range.
The diaphragm of Polygraph K has a composite structure in which a thin polypropylene dome
is supported by graphite fiber, and like a woofer cone, high rigidity and Romans damping
characteristics are obtained by two kinds of material characteristics.
Furthermore, although it is a dome type diaphragm, the voice coil of 3.75 cm is adopted as
a central drive system, and a sufficient piston range is secured.
The 7.6cm dome type midrange is carried in the mid range.
In this unit, the large-diameter dome is adopted because of the need for power handling
and high efficiency which arises by the frequency characteristic extending to a lower region.
Furthermore, in order to retain the transient performance of the small-diameter dome, we have
developed a new composition of polypropylene to reduce the weight of the diaphragm. This newly
developed poly dome is comparable to fiber-based soft dome in that there is no internal
resonance, and also has high compliance, and realizes lightweight and high-speed
characteristics.
Two special tweeters EMIT-K are carried in the high region.
EMIT-K is an improved unit of EMIT (Electro Magnetic Induction Tweeter), and the diaphragm
uses an ultra-thin film material that is half as light as the conventional one. Furthermore, rare
earth neodymium is used for the magnet in a push-pull configuration, and high efficiency and
low distortion are realized.
The RS-8 Kappa is equipped with one EMIT-K on the front and one on the rear, and the
bidirectional characteristics provide a more natural sound field reproduction capability.
The L / C tuning circuit which performs a sufficient current suction from a power amplifier to a
Woofer is adopted as a network part, and the flat characteristic is realized to the ultra-low region
which cannot be reproduced by a general system.
In addition, the parts used are carefully selected in terms of both electrical and musical
characteristics, including special polypropylene capacitors.
The thin design is adopted as an enclosure, and the high density, low resonance particle board
is used as a material. Furthermore, the surface of the baffle is treated with a special acoustic
treatment matte coating to make it a round baffle with a small diffraction effect.
The exterior has a natural oak finish.
